Olive Garden -- Fort Smith, Arkansas

Going to Olive Garden in Fort Smith is always enjoyable. Sometimes at restaurants the unexpected happens. February 13, My mom dad and I went to celebrate my birthday.

We waited over an hour. There were people packed in the hallway waiting to be seated.

Large Crowd

Fortunately, during the wait, the bartender was fabulous and kept us fully stocked with adult beverages.

Great bartender

We had fun while we waited

Finally it was our turn to eat, what we were looking forward to!

While people were packed in the hallway waiting, many tables were empty throughout the restaurant.

Empty tables to the left and right

We finally got seated and the waiter who was an exchange student from Gabon, Africa was very friendly. Once again I had to ask for olive oil for the bread sticks. A no brainer that one should have olive oil at an Italian restaurant.

Great tasting Olive oil at the Olive Garden

We ordered the fried calamari which we always enjoy quite a bit. It turned out to be overcooked and chewy. The breading was very flavorful ... but the chewiness left us unsatisfied.

I ordered the Baked Parmesan Shrimp and received salmon.

The salmon turned out to be cooked to perfection and I enjoyed it a lot. However, I would have preferred to get the
Baked Parmesan Shrimp I ordered. My parents ordered shrimp scampi and it was blah ... no flavor. Absolutely awful experience. Obviously needs new management. Olive Garden is never this bad at other locations.

I'm looking forward to the future. I am sure Darden Restaurants will correct the current challenges at this location.
